Vaccines: They’re Not Just for Kids

The best way to stay protected against serious illnesses is by staying up to date on your immunizations. How can you help raise awareness?

Despite popular belief, immunizations are not something you should receive only in childhood. Not many people know that those aged six months and older need to get a flu vaccine every year. That’s why National Immunization Awareness Month is the perfect time to promote vaccines and encourage friends and family to receive them. Remember– the best way to stay protected against serious illnesses is by staying up to date on your immunizations. To help keep our community safe, join Adirondack Health and Wellness in celebrating immunization awareness this August!

Here is a list of ways you can help spread the word:

1) Encourage people in your community to get the flu vaccine yearly.

2) Schedule an immunization clinic with ADKHW to promote the health of your workplace.

3) Schedule a screening or health fair to provide valuable information that will help keep your employees healthy.

4) Talk to people in your community about the importance of adult vaccination- because they aren’t just for kids!

Summer is winding down, and flu season is just around the corner. Vaccines are our best defense against serious diseases, so use this month to ensure that all of your vaccines are current and up to date. Getting this taken care of early can help protect you from illness throughout the entire season. Prevention is power!
